Op vrijdag 18 oktober gingen we na het ontbijt op weg naar het Olympia Stützpunkt Köln voor de divisioning, een soort training waarbij de organisatie kijkt wie er qua gewicht en judoniveau het beste bij elkaar past zodat de poules zo eerlijk mogelijk zijn. Ik mocht met mijn gewichtsklasse tot 70 kilo op 12:00 uur de mat op. Na zo’n 45 minuten zat de training erop en werden de judoka’s per poule bij elkaar gezet. Ik bleek in een poule van 4 meiden te zijn ingedeeld. Mijn tegenstanders voor de Europese kampioenschappen zijn: Melina Voges (GER), Jasmin Siebelitz (GER) en Sonja Cramer (GER).
Na de divisioning was er een luchpauze gepland dus kon ik nog mooi even met met coach Kate (van team GB) de mat op om nog wat technsche en taktische dingen door te nemen. De rest van de middag hebben we naar de andere judoka’s gekeken waarna we terug gingen naar het hotel om ons op te frissen en om te kleden voor het feest. Papa en Matt bleven achter voor de loting en coach meeting, zij kwamen later naar het feest. De welkomstparty was erg gezellig met heel goed eten, lekkere toetjes en goede muziek. Na een geslaagde avond, gingen we weer met z’n allen naar het hotel om wat na te drinken en te gaan slapen.
Zaterdag komen is de eerste wedstrijddag (voor niveau 2 en 3) en komen Skye Westwood, Kyle Jones en Shaun Banks van team GB in actie.
On Friday, October 18, after breakfast, we headed to the Olympia Stützpunkt Köln for the divisioning, a kind of training in which the organization looks at who fits together in terms of weight and judo level so that the groups are as fair as possible. With my weight class up to 70 kilos at 12:00 I was allowed on the mat. After about 45 minutes the training was over and the judokas were put together by group. I turned out to be in a group of 4 girls. My opponents for the European championships are: Melina Voges (GER), Jasmin Siebelitz (GER) and Sonja Cramer (GER).
After the divisioning, a lunch break was planned, so I was able to go on the mat with coach Kate (from team GB) to go through some technical and tactical things. The rest of the afternoon we watched the other judokas, after which we went back to the hotel to freshen up and to change for the party. Dad and Matt were left behind for the draw and coach meeting, they came to the party later. The welcome party was very nice with very good food, tasty desserts and good music. After a successful evening, we all went back to the hotel for a drink and to go to sleep.
Coming Saturday is the first day of competition (for levels 2 and 3) and Skye Westwood, Kyle Jones and Shaun Banks of team GB are in action.
